State Championship

On March 7, 2008, Brian Campbell became the first Ashland High School athlete to win a Wisconsin Powerlifting Association High School State Championship when he took the title in the 114-pound weight class at the State Meet at South Milwaukee High School. Brian totalled 730 pounds in the Squat, Bench Press, and Dead Lift. Finishing 2nd was Michael Hess of Wisconsin Dells, who is the son of the former Jan Ochsenbauer, and grandson of Bob and Mary Lou Ochsenbauer of Ashland.
Brian went on to compete in the USA Powerlifting National Championships in Kalamazoo, MI, on April 5, 2008, where he finished 4th in the 114-pound weight class. On April 8th, he was honored as the WDIO-TV's "Prep Athlete of the Week" for his accomplishments.
